The 2 main airports in Belgium are Brussels Airport (17 million passengers in 2009) and Brussels South Charleroi Airport (3,9 million passengers).

Brussels Airport, 15 km north of Brussels, offers direct flights to European destinations as well as to North America, Central America, the Caribbean, Africa, the Middle East and Asia.

Brussels South Charleroi Airport, south of Brussels, is a major low cost airport, with aircraft based by Ryanair and Jetairfly. Flights are operated to business and leisure destinations in Europe and around the Mediterranean.

Brussels has a larger local market size than many other major European gateways. Origin & Destination traffic at Brussels Airport stood at 89,2% in 2009: more than 15 million passengers out of 17 million.

Smaller airports exist in Antwerp (169.446 passengers in 2009, mainly on scheduled services to London City and Manchester), Ostend (192.776 passengers, mainly charters) and Liège (356.782 passengers, on charter and scheduled flights).
